title: "rise up!" © 2003 medium: mouse drawn digital image rendered in adobe illustrator 9.0 about the image: This image was originally an acrylic painting i created when i worked on the Bill Hennessey Place Housing Project - Construction Hoarding Mural Project for First United Church Mission, Vancouver, BC. i believe the original painting still hangs inside the Hennessey Place building on Hastings Street in the Downtown Eastside (DTES). the 3 female figures depict the process and movement of "rising up" - raising our consciousness... the title (rise up!) was inspired by the wonderful song recorded by the Parachute Club named "rise up!" - a song about working and celebrating together to create peace and positive change... by dreaming, intending and visioning together as community, we can create that which we desire ten-fold... focusing on what we "don't want" creates more of what we "don't want" - instead of "fighting against", let's consider focusing on that which we "do want" and/or the "healed state" empowered with our passion and love!
